Tampere Weather, When to Go and Tampere Climate Information

Finland's third-biggest city of Tampere experiences distinct seasonal weather and a pleasant climate for much of the year, with few extremes. Tampere's winter months are harsh and bitter, with freezing temperatures both day and night. The summers are however thankfully much warmer and temperatures can even top 25°C / 77°F at times, particularly during the months of July and August.

Due to the plentiful sunny weather, long daylight hours and favourable climate, the summer season is always an excellent time to visit Tampere. Between June and August, the country of Finland is at its absolute best, and around the city of Tampere al fresco terrace dining abounds and many excellent festivals are held, such as the Floral Festival and Tammerfest rock festival, both of which take place each July.




The climate begins to noticeably change as September arrives and the mornings soon begin to feel a little chilly, with a damp and occasional misty start to the day. By November, the overnight frosty weather has well and truly arrived, freezing the lakes and soon being followed by snowy weather.

The heavy snowfalls around the mountains close to Tampere create nothing short of a winter playground, with open-air ice skating also being a popular pastime at this time of the year. Skiing is also available close by and many of Finland's best ski resorts are within driving distance, such as Ellivuori, Hervanta, Himos, Hollola, Mustavuori and Sappee.
