A relatively small green space in central Tampere, Hämeenpuisto Park dates back to the very early part of the 20th century and is edged by a couple of busy roads, meaning that the park is surprisingly narrow and compact. However, this is still a pleasant place to come and there are plenty of areas to sit and enjoy a leisurely picnic. Both the Metso Library and the Statue of Freedom can be found within Hämeenpuisto Park, along with a number of other interesting statues.

During the snowy months of winter, Kaupin Urheilupuisto lends itself to a number of popular winter sports, such as sledding and cross-country skiing.
